Turku castle, Finland

Turku, a military defense castle, is located next to the estuary of the Aura River and was built in 1280. The castle was expanded between 1574-1588 including the hall used for king and queen to meet visitors. The new part was built in Renaissance style. Turku was the territory of Sweden back to the old time. King of Sweden used to live there when they visited Turku. 14 Kings of Sweden see and treat Turku as a palace.

The castle was destroyed during World War II and restored after the war. The Newcastle has been converted and became the Museum of Cultural History of Turku. Now you can find exhibition of ancient coins and badges in 18-20 century in Turku Castle.
