Chillon castle built on the prominent rock on the Rhine Lake in Montreux as if floating in the lake is a representative of the beautiful ancient of Switzerland. The castle is located in the lakeside and maintain the style of the Middle Ages. Chillon Castle has robust appearance and coordinated look of the surrounding landscape. Chillon Castle, a military fortress, is built in order to control the channel of north to south road and the lake between the mountains trail. In 12th century, the castle was owned by the Savoy royal family and became a royal summer palace, a military fortress and the judiciary, during 13th and 14th century. This period is the golden period of the Chillon Castle.

From 1536 to 1798, Chillon became part of Vaud state under the Berne rule. Berne left the castle the most beautiful decoration at that period. In 1798, the state of Vaud was successful Independent from Berne rule and Chillon castle changed to another owner.

During Romantic era, 19th century , Chillon castle became well-known because famous writers like Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas and Byron use and mention it on their stories. The world-famous masterpieces, The Prisoner of Chillon, was also created in that era.

There are huge pillars having notes of the famous writer, Bayern, in the entrance of Chillon castle.
Some people question about the note and claim that it is not Bayern’s authentic because the society describe on it is not in the same era of Bayern’s.

Internal quaint room in Chillon Castle displays used items including kinds of utensils, silver sword, helmet and knife. The scene tells the recollection of the aristocratic life century ago. The decoration is awkward but the well-coordinated of wooden bed and wall filled with beautiful painting reveals how romantic and rich it is in that period. Inside the town of Chapel, it reproduces the past murals through the slide. You have to hand blocking the light and then could see the fuzzy actual murals. People could get to the roof after passing the labyrinth-like steps.

On the roof, the overlooking the Rhine Lake of the impasse and the French border are another charm of Chillon Castle.
