Pamukkale located in southwest of Denizli City, Turkey, is a well-known hot spring resort which has not only thousands of natural hot springs but the odd, cotton-looked hills. It is a wonderful fairyland, one of the most amazing scenery in the world, created by the nature of ghosts and because of that, people name here Pamukkale. Pamuk and Kale, in Turkish, mean cotton and castle.
It is best described as numerous infinity pools that drop off to magnificent views of the town below.
Pamukkale has series of terraces (called “travertines“) formed by highly concentrated limestone deposits from 17 hot water springs in the area. The hot spring flows down from the roof of hillside erosion into a ladder-like platform. People can sit inside the hot springs to recover from fatigue and have healing properties; mineral deposits in the spring drys entire hillside white, like the open-air lava.
Shoes are not allowed when walking through the travertines where the surface is very smooth. Visitors could feel the soft sand squish through our toes and massage soles at the same time. The water gets warmer on the top.
In Pamukkale, the Antique Theatre and Agora in Antique City are places where visitor could feel the history and have great memories. Also, Necropolis located in the former Roman spa town of Hierapolis is the largest cemetery in Anatolia with approximately 1,200 graves. You could see the interesting tombs of that time.
